Vlad Ţoca, dr. hab., is a professor of history and art history at the Art and Design University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania, and is the Head of the Department of Theoretical Subjects, at the Art and Design University of Cluj-Napoca. He specialises in Romanian art historiography. His courses include the History of Art Historiography, Modern Art, and European Art. He coordinates the Art History and Art Theory graduate and MA programmes at the Art and Design University of Cluj-Napoca. Vlad Ţoca studied history at the Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca between 1992 and 1997, followed a postgraduate programme in Jewish studies at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem (1997-1998), received an MA degree in Jewish studies from the Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca in 1999, and a doctoral degree in history from the same university in 2008, and received his habilitation in Visual arts form the Art and Design University of Cluj-Napoca in 2015. In 1999 and 2003 he attended the summer school of the Central European University in Budapest, in Jewish studies and Visual culture, respectively. Vlad Țoca published numerous studies on art history and art historiography and published a book on Romanian art historiography between the two world wars in 2011, Art Historical Discourse in Romania. 1919-1947.
